What is Depression?

Depression is a mood disorder that causes severe symptoms that affect how you feel, think, and handle daily activities.

Signs and symptoms:

  • Persistent sad or “empty” mood
  • Feelings of hopelessness
  • Irritability
  • Feelings of guilt, worthlessness or helplessness
  • Lost of interest or pleasure in activities or hobbies
  • Fatigue and decrease in energy
  • Moving or talking more slowly
  • Feeling restless or having trouble sitting still
  • Difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decisions
  • Difficulty sleeping or oversleeping
  • Appetite and/or weight changes
  • Thoughts of death or suicide
  • Physical symptoms such as chronic headaches, stomachaches, etc.
